At Boo Hair we continue to educate ourselves and our clients in hair preparation and styling. The stylist at Boo Hair love working with naturally curly hair and equally with clients hair that they wish to create curl in or change curl direction for a client.
We thought we would leave you in on some top stylist tips when dealing with naturally curly hair.
If you let the hair dry too much before styling, you’ll have an uphill struggle getting it to do what you want. This means you should start styling the hair from extremely wet.
Don’t use a comb, all our stylists at Boo Hair in Laleston Bridgend will use their fingers instead to minimise damage.
Rubbing hair with a towel will distort the cuticle and create frizz, so make sure you only pat dry.
While your hair is still wet, apply a leave in treatment to nourish, we recommend Kebello three day blow drying balm, which not only works as a leave in emollient, it has amazing styling properties, which can be used when leaving the hair dry naturally or with added styling. To shape the hair, use a hairdryer and diffuser on high heat and low speed. Work slowly, concentrating on the shape of your cut. Don’t just put all the hair in the diffuser and lift to the top of the head as this will make the hair look square. Use the diffuser to direct the hair into position on an angle to create the desired shape. Once the hair is nearly dry, use the hairdryer’s cold shot button to set the curls in place and create extra bounce for longer-lasting curls. Use a gloss spray or serum to create optimum shine. Finally, use a light mist of hairspray to protect the hair from frizzing if the hair is damp or hot.
We hope these tips from all the stylists at Boo Hair Bridgend will be helpful. We look forward to seeing you in the salon soon.
